This is a yearly event that was being celebrated by most Filipinos living abroad under the sponsorship of the Phil. Embassy. In this year’s event celebrations, Tong-il Moo Do became a member of the organizing committees specifically in charge of Peace and Order Committee together with the Filipino-Japanese Movement for Global Peace.
Being under this committee, TIMD’s responsibilities are: maintain peace and order in the whole event, provide security, assist those who are in need of help or assistance, controlling the coming and going of vehicles in the area and most especially, controlling the crowd during the height of performances on the entertainment portions. All in all, there were 32 staff members present under Peace and Order Committee; composed of TIMD members and volunteers from Filipino-Japanese Movement for Global Peace. During the event, there were thousands of people flock in the area, Filipinos, Japanese and other nationalities.
Aside from being in charge of P&O.C, TIMD was asked to perform a special number during the entertainment. Lead by Master Takamitsu Hoshiko, President WTMF Japan; Instructors: Robert Alcamfor, Pres. TIMDP-J Org., Tokyo, Isaias Florentino, Arnold Heramis, Jameson Hangalay, Angie Obara and Alexander Baguio were the main performers. They performed two ballets: the Form of Creation accompanied by the music “Strauss” and Marching Bravely Forward with Discipline, with the music “Eye of the Tiger”. During the performance, the wooden stage was too hot because it was exposed under the Sun.
However, it didn’t hinder the strong will and fighting spirit of our TIMD performers to perform even though at the end, all of them got a burn feet. During the exhibitions people were amazed, applauded and enjoyed. They were very happy watching such unique performances of our TIMD Instructors. After the exhibitions, many people went to our TIMD booth and inquired and they also enjoyed looking at our photo exhibits. The whole event ended successfully and the Officials of the Phil. Embassy and other Filipino organizations congratulated us for our good performance in Peace and Order as well as martial arts exhibitions. Everybody enjoyed and left the venue very happy.
Special thanks to the performers, especially Master Hoshiko, Instructors: Isaias Florentino Jameson Hangalay, Angie Obara, Arnold Heramis, and Alexander Baguio for their participation in the TIMD exhibitions and Peace and order. Also, I would to thank the Officers and members of Tong-il Moo do Phil.- Japan Organization in Tokyo: Joy Juralbal, Arlene Maravilla, Mary Fernandez, Vergie Niegos and Chenie Delfin and others for a very wonderful decorations of our TIMD booth and also, the members of Filipino-Japanese Movement for Global Peace headed by Angie Obara.
